Oprah Winfrey Has a new Competitor in the Promotions and Book Business

Who would think that Oprah Winfrey would have a competitor in Venezuela's President, Hugo Chavez? Well, the Venezuelan president who presented a speech to the UN assembly last week did what many publishers and booksellers have been wanting to see. They want other book pushers to mention books that will move their sales online and offline. The U.N. address by the Venezuelan president Hugo Chavez, has had an unexpected impact on the best-sellerdom on Amazon.com and Barnes and Noble. At the start of his talk in which he had some poor choice of words for the president of the U.S.A, Noam Chmsky's book, "Hegemony or Survival: America's Quest for Global Dominance" was just like any other book on the online and offline bookstores. Since the mention, Hegemony or Survival, published in 2003, had jumped into the top 10 of Amazon.com and Barnes & Noble.com. Many booksellers have ordered more copies of the book. Hegemony or Survival is flying off the shelves. Hugo Chavez is doing what Oprah Winfrey has been doing on her show. It is amazing that Hugo Chavez makes time to read. So he has a chance to redeem himself. With all the oil profits that come from CITCo, he can read any books he wants. It seems it is time for him to learn about this country.
